David Stapleton, CPA, CLPF, joined J.S. Held’s Strategic Advisory Group in October of 2024 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of Stapleton Group. David is a nationally recognized federal receiver, trustee, and restructuring expert. He and his team resolve problems caused by non-performing commercial loans and shareholder disputes. In representing creditors, business owners, and legal counsel, he quickly identifies the obstacles between the parties involved and implements actions to overcome impasses.
David’s expertise includes receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors (ABCs), bankruptcy plan administration, asset liquidations, going-concern sales, federal equity receiverships, and financial advisory. He is skilled in a wide range of industries, including agribusiness, real estate development, manufacturing and distribution, oil and gas, hospitality, healthcare, media, and technology.
Prior to joining J.S. Held, David founded the Stapleton Group to provide clients with a single-source solution when faced with business or real estate-related problem loans or shareholder disputes. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he was a CPA providing financial and restructuring services for Fortune 500 clients. He then served as a director at a national provider of workout services.
David has an MBA from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Accounting from Tulane University.
