Carey Miller joined J.S. Held in March of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of Ocean Tomo. Carey provides forensic accounting services and dispute consulting services to public and private sector clients. She assists counsel in all aspects of litigation and arbitration proceedings including document review and discovery, preparation of expert reports, and deposition and trial assistance.

Carey has extensive experience in auditing, internal controls evaluations, forensic accounting, and litigation consulting services. Her work frequently involves allegations of misstated financial statements, inadequate disclosures, auditor malpractice, and director and officer liability. She has also participated in engagements involving breach of contract disputes, measurement of economic damages, employee fraud and defalcation, and other issues related to the interpretation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Carey has worked with clients across a range of industries, including financial services, technology, retail, manufacturing, government, nonprofit, and professional services. She joined Ocean Tomo after nearly 6 years with Deloitte & Touche LLP where she provided audit services to clients in both the public and private sector. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the AICPA’s Forensic and Litigation Services Committee, the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and the Board of Trustees and Audit Committee of the Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder Foundation. Carey is a past recipient of the AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Standing Ovation Award.

Carey graduated, magna cum laude, with a B.S. in Accounting from Messiah College. Carey was a two-time Division III National Champion in Women’s Soccer. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
