Brian Smyth is a Managing Director of Construction Advisory for J.S. Held. Brian has over 13 years of experience providing construction consulting and project advisory services for both domestic and international projects. Brian’s experience includes dispute resolution and litigation support, including construction claim review and preparation, forensic schedule delay analysis, cost damage quantifications, loss of productivity, and participation in various dispute resolution phases, including discovery, mediation, expert report preparation, and settlement negotiations. Brian also has significant experience in risk management assessment, project controls and process improvement, project management and oversight, construction and financial audit services, as well as building technology, failure analysis, and disaster recovery.

Brian has advised owners, contractors, and legal counsel across the capital lifecycle and across various industries, including oil & gas, power & utilities, transportation, manufacturing, technology & media, hospitality, sports & entertainment, healthcare, and education.

Prior to joining J.S. Held, Brian was a Manager in Deloitte Advisory's Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice and previously provided dispute resolution and litigation support services for the engineering consulting firm Exponent Inc. Brian received his BS in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a certified Planning and Scheduling Professional.
