Alex Degan is a consultant who analyzes and values economic damage claims. His typical projects include calculating loss of profit in insurance and legal settings, tracking and analyzing property damage costs, contingent business interruption insurance claims, inventory theft claims, and employee dishonesty claims.

Additionally, Alex has an in-depth knowledge of the power generation industry and has been responsible for calculating numerous losses of profits for large power producers, both traditional generation and renewable. Experience in the power generation industry includes, but is not limited to, day-ahead/real-time markets, locational marginal pricing, industry-specific contracts (PPA, PSA, CSA, LTSA, Fuel Supply Agreements, Gas Swaps, Financial Hedge Agreements, etc.), heat rates, and varying types of load distribution (peaking plants and base-load plants).

Alex has presented seminars on calculating business interruption losses for multiple industries, including power generation, natural gas processing, midstream oil and gas services, mining, and oil refineries. At J.S. Held, Alex works in project management and analysis of economic damage claims. He is responsible for developing project work plans, overseeing staff, preparing reports, and communicating findings to file managers for final approval.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and an Accounting Certificate in Energy Accounting from Texas A&M University.
