The Situation

During re-roofing activities, a building collapsed with a fatality in July 2022. J.S. Held was initially engaged to perform a causal investigation of the collapse, which was later expanded to assist and collaborate with another company to make the site safe and oversee the cleanup operation.

How We Advised

Due to the fatality caused by this collapse, the authorities observed this site very closely. The initial company retained to stabilize the building was unable to convince authorities that their methodology would be a safe approach. J.S. Held developed innovative solutions to stabilize the building without placing any workers at risk. The causal investigation is still ongoing.
