Samuel Simmons, PE specializes in evaluations of forensic, structural, and civil engineering. He oversees and conducts evaluations involving damage and performance issues in single-family residential, multi-family, and commercial buildings. His structural and civil assessments include, but are not limited to, structural failures and / or collapses due to weather-related events, post-fire structural damages, moisture intrusion problems, and tree and vehicle damages.

Mr. Simmons conducts forensic investigations to determine the cause and extent of structural damage to various building types. He coordinates with contractors, insurance carriers, manufacturers, homeowners, architects, and other stakeholders to address problems, develop conceptual solutions, and manage project details.

Prior to his involvement in forensic evaluations, Mr. Simmons designed, detailed, and inspected structures and structural systems. He used light-frame wood design, heavy timber design, steel design, and concrete design to aid in the construction of high-end custom residential homes, commercial buildings, and outbuildings such as shops and barns.

As a licensed professional engineer and a project manager for J.S. Held, Mr. Simmons conducts diverse forensic investigations. He oversees projects involving other engineers and service lines. Additionally, he has performed as the service line lead on several occasions, representing J.S. Held's forensic engineering and architectural branch on assignments. Mr. Simmons conducts site inspections, participates and collaborates on joint examinations, researches applicable topics, systems, and materials, prepares detailed written reports to convey observations, relays pertinent historical information, and forms reasonable and defensible conclusions.
