Richard Burgess joined J.S. Held in August of 2022 following J.S. Held's acquisition of Arcadis Contract Solutions in Europe. Richard Burgess is a Chartered Construction Manager and forensic delay analyst with both UK main contracting and domestic/international consultancy experience. He has since specialized in the forensic investigation of project delays, having worked on some of the largest projects in the Middle East and several major UK projects.
Early in his career, Richard worked as a project manager where he led the full workstream from pre-construction through to delivery. This on-the-ground experience enabled Richard to gain in-depth knowledge across the built environment and understand the challenges faced across a wide range of projects.
Richard gained much of his planning experience whilst assigned to some of London’s largest construction projects, where he participated in the planning and delivery of multi-million-pound mixed-use and super-prime residential projects (+£400M). For a period, he was employed as an MEP planner, where he gained first-hand experience in complex installation and commissioning planning.
Richard previously led the forensic delay analysis for respected claims and expert consultancy in Dubai, providing independent advisory services on construction and infrastructure projects across the MENA region. He now works in J.S. Held’s Construction Advisory leading the expert witness team in London, providing expert advisory services to clients and contractors in connection with major building and engineering disputes.
Richard is a practicing delay expert with extensive knowledge in program management and delay analysis. He specializes in the forensic investigation of delay and disruption in connection with major building and engineering projects on behalf of employers and contractors.
