David F. McLaughlin is a Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for the J.S. Held Austin office and South-Central Region. David joined J.S. Held LLC in 2012 and has over 24 years of experience in the construction and insurance industry specializing in estimating, project management and onsite project monitoring. He has been involved in the evaluation of disasters caused by water, fire, flood, hurricanes, tornados, wind and hail. He has consulted on large complex insurance losses throughout the United States, including schools, malls, high-rise hotels, high-rise office buildings, apartment complexes, manufacturing buildings, and multi-building corporate campuses.
David served as the construction consulting expert on an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program focused on resolving over 1,100 disputed Hurricane Katrina, Rita and Wilma claims for a large insurance company. Duties on this team included assessing, estimating and negotiating settlements on disputed claims throughout Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. The purpose of the program was to resolve disputes by attending and participating in mediation sessions while developing an agreement on the scope of damages and the corresponding repair or replacement cost.
David’s background covers a wide spectrum in the insurance industry including work as a licensed property adjuster and as an estimator, project manager and operations manager for national restoration companies. His varied experiences has provided him with a balanced perspective and in-depth knowledge of the loss process.
