Courtney Berkowitz is a licensed Professional Engineer and licensed Structural Engineer experienced in forensic analysis. His experience includes the determination of the cause of damage, the determination of the extent of damage, and the determination of the conceptual scope of damage repair. His expertise includes structural steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures damaged by fire, wind, impact, fatigue, moisture, gravity loads, or foundation movement. He is also experienced in structural integrity analysis.

Prior to his career in forensics, Mr. Berkowitz was responsible for the structural design of buildings and bridges. His experience includes initial conceptual design, structural analysis, code review, drawing review, substructure design, superstructure design, design of modifications, inspection and analysis of damaged structures in need of repair, and design of modifications to existing buildings. His areas of expertise include both steel and concrete design.

Mr. Berkowitz’s structural engineering experience has included the design of robust concrete buildings, large steel buildings/support structures, and steel girder bridges with concrete substructures. The designs include the preliminary planning stages, the structural analysis and calculations per the applicable design codes, the creation and finalization of design drawings, and support for the contractor through the construction process. Mr. Berkowitz has also evaluated buildings in need of modification or repair and provided the necessary design calculations and drawings to make the required changes.
