Byron Weaver, PE, has over 39 years of diverse design, forensic engineering, project management, QA/QC testing, and management experience. Mr. Weaver provides consulting and expert services for both plaintiff and defense law firms and has served as a forensic engineer, consultant, project engineer, and project manager for structures damaged by fire, explosions, atmospheric exposure, abuse, and natural causes. He has conducted condition surveys and forensic investigations, prepared remedial designs and specifications, monitored and reviewed rehabilitation construction activities, and prepared investigative reports with opinions of cause and origin. He has completed over 400 forensic investigations involving building damage and distress, construction-related incidents, and defects caused by foundation-soil interaction. Additionally, he served as an expert witness in two mediation cases of structural distress, one arbitration hearing, and one court case involving precast concrete.
Mr. Weaver has performed or directed: the design and construction of steel and concrete structures (cast in place and precast) related to industrial, nuclear, transportation, electrical, marine, commercial, stormwater, and wastewater; design and production of steel formwork; concrete mix design; testing of concrete, fireproofing, steel, and other construction materials; condition surveys and forensic investigations regarding construction failure, fire, water intrusion, distress, damage, soil foundation interaction, and degradation; environmental studies, assessments and remediation management for institutional, industrial, transportation, and commercial projects; and construction quality control and quality assurance programs for concrete (cast in place and precast), steel, and aggregate materials
Throughout his career, Mr. Weaver has used his structural design and testing experience to solve complex forensic problems and find realistic and practical solutions. His project management experience gives him an insight into the construction process and the ability to understand the costs and consequences of design and construction decisions. His experience in QA/QC testing and management provides him with knowledge of testing that is necessary and applicable to finding solutions to forensic projects.
Mr. Weaver is involved in forensic inspection and expert witness testimony and reporting. He has extensive involvement in litigation cases as well as loss assignments throughout Texas and is consulting on large complex insurance losses, including hotels, commercial structures, restaurants, retail buildings, and private homes.
