Dr. Bryan Hardin served twenty-eight years as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He has taken on research, policy, and management roles, culminating as Deputy Director of NIOSH and Assistant Surgeon General in the Public Health Service. Since his retirement from the US PHS in July 2000, he has provided consulting services, first as Bryan Hardin Consulting and Veritox, and now as Vice President – Principal Toxicologist at J.S. Held.

Dr. Hardin has a career of experience in public and occupational health issues, identifying hazards, assessing risks, developing science-based health and safety policies, and communicating risk- and science-based evaluations to government agencies and to the public, industry, and organized labor. In his decades as a consultant, Dr. Hardin is highly valued for the depth and breadth of his toxicology expertise combined with his exemplary communication skills, which have made him a highly effective expert witness.

Dr. Hardin is a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences, an Associate Member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and a Full Member of the American College of Toxicology, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the Society of Toxicology, the International Society of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, and the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention.
