Alp Coker joined J.S. Held in May of 2022 as part of J.S. Held's acquisition of GPW. Alp advises clients on Turkey, the Caucasus, and sub-Saharan Africa. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in each jurisdiction in which he operates, providing clients with critical insight into the nexus between politics and business, with a focus on how these factors directly impact investors’ business strategies and ongoing operations. Alp has particular expertise in the extractive sector, providing clients in hostile environments with intelligence and investigative support on ‘above-ground risks’.

Alp's recent work includes political risk analysis in Serbia, Sudan, and the UAE, an internal FCPA investigation for an investor with assets in Southeast Europe, mapping the key political and economic players in Turkey for a range of clients, a multi-jurisdictional asset trace on a major corporate debtor, and an asset trace against an East African sovereign.

He is fluent in Turkish, French, and Japanese. Alp holds an MA (Distinction) in Turkish Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a BA in Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris.
